Textual Tension: Panel on Translating Literature from Taiwan and Hong Kong

Join Yu-Chen Lai, Jacqueline Leung, and Kevin Wang for a panel on their experiences translating the literatures of Hong Kong and Taiwan. The session opens with an interactive exercise where we’ll use all tools available to translate a short poem by 夏宇 Hsia Yü. Panelists will then discuss living and writing between languages, recent projects, and the publication process.

Zou Mat Je (做乜嘢) is a new bilingual zine featuring voices of people from the Cantonese diaspora. The zine is about shared multi-cultural identities, histories, and hope for our futures through poetry, comics, essays, photographs, short stories, and creative nonfiction.
